-> "추론하다"로 해석

-> 실체, 본체

우주의 물질은 무언가이어야하는데 그 물질로부터 모든것이 형성될 수 있어야 한다. 

■ he deduces / that the whole of the earth must be floating / on a bed of water, from which it has emerged 

그는 지구 전체는 물의 기저에서 떠다니고 있는게 틀림없고 물로부터 그것은 출현했다고 연역한다
